Ali Hoffman is a painter based in Salem, MA.

Primarily working in oil on panel, Ali is interested in both the joy & discomfort of living in a body—and how that changes over time.

After studying fine art in college, Ali pursued a fulfilling career in graphic design and creative direction. Decades of processing loss, motherhood, and the ways in which women’s bodies are understood in our world drew her back to painting.

As a woman who has experienced a multitude of changes and struggles relating to her physicality: alopecia, disordered eating, and fertility struggles among them—Ali explores these complexities in her art. 

Using color as a starting point, she works to both celebrate ripeness, expansion, and the reality of the human body, while holding space for the bodily discomfort that many relate to.
